Dans cette performance solo à mi-chemin entre théâtre, poésie et rap, Gabriel Samson I explore l’identité québécoise et la sienne en tant que personne non binaire. À travers des souvenirs d’enfance, des réflexions sociales et une critique acérée de l’américanisation culturelle, Le Québec est un pays scandinave livre un récit intime et politique aussi drôle que percutant.
La scénographie vidéo éclatée et les éclairages et ambiances sonores manipulés en direct sur scène par Gabriel Samson I font dialoguer indépendance personnelle et souveraineté collective. Un spectacle multidisciplinaire, introspectif et engagé qui théorise au « je » pour mieux questionner le « nous ».
In this solo performance, halfway between theater, poetry, and rap, Gabriel Samson I explores Quebec identity and his own as a non-binary person. Through childhood memories, social reflections, and sharp criticism of cultural Americanization, Le Québec est un pays scandinave delivers an intimate and political narrative that is as funny as it is powerful.
The explosive video scenography and lighting and sound effects manipulated live on stage by Gabriel Samson I create a dialogue between personal independence and collective sovereignty. A multidisciplinary, introspective, and committed show that theorizes the “I” in order to better question the “we.”

Finaliste au prix Relève professionnelle 2024, Gabriel Samson I reçoit son diplôme en Jeu au Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Québec en 2021. Iel est coproducteur de la RIOT, en plus du Cabaret Coquin, spectacle de performances littéraires érotiques, ayant tourné en France, en Belgique, puis bientôt au Congo et au Mali. Récipiendaire de la bourse pour les artistes émergents de la Ville de Lévis, Gabriel a écrit, interprété et mis en scène son premier spectacle solo Un chien en laisse qui jappe, dans le cadre de la programmation officielle de la Charpente des Fauves en 2025. Bûchant continuellement sur la poésie, le slam, le rap, le monologue, Gabriel Samson I travaille sur son deuxième spectacle solo qui a reçu la Mention Spéciale des Productions Rhizome, Le Québec est un pays scandinave, qui sera présenté à Premier Acte en 2026.
Finalist for the 2024 Relève professionnelle award, Gabriel Samson I graduated with a degree in acting from the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Québec in 2021. Iel is co-producer of RIOT, as well as Cabaret Coquin, a show featuring erotic literary performances that has toured France and Belgium and will soon be heading to Congo and Mali. Recipient of the City of Lévis’ Emerging Artists Grant, Gabriel wrote, performed, and directed their first solo show, Un chien en laisse qui jappe, as part of the official programming of La Charpente des Fauves in 2025. Continuously studying poetry, slam, rap, and monologue, Gabriel Samson I is working on his second solo show, Le Québec est un pays scandinave, which received a Special Mention from Productions Rhizome and will be presented at Premier Acte in 2026.
